We didn’t see many beers that are new but that’s usually the way it is, I always get them as soon as they come out. I did see a new local brewery, Damn forget the name now, they only had an Amber and a Hefe and I only tried the Amber, good but it is a working class beer so quite simple. Had some GREAT conversations with people in the crowd, a very cute gal from Sri Lanka, boy did she have a personality, could chat all day. Brian started up with her first, mainly due to his Romney button I think. The dude with her, a Lawyer (jewish, he made the point to say so), was a bit quiet for her IMHO, they said they were only “friends”. I did have to look up Sri Lanka, it’s off the coast of southern India, very tropical. I should have guessed with all the Indians we’ve gotten at work that she was of Indian decent and not hispanic, had the straight hair.
About 3pm, after 3 hours of beer and frolicking in the sun Brian and I stopped in at the Square Bar and had dinner. We also watched the first quarter or so of the Gator/USC game. The Gators were doing quite well so I decided to let Brian off the hook and we drove on home. During the drive back to the house the Gators scored a few more times actually, pulling ahead of USC to finish the half way ahead. Many of the points were off turnovers, no problem there.

East Atlanta Beerfest, EABF, Notoberfest.

EABF

I wasn't really feeling into going since I was going alone but did get on the MARTA and arrived, finally, after about 45 minutes of travel by MARTA and about 75 minutes of travel on I85 down through an accident up on I85 south.  So about 2:45 I was finally having my first "sample".

They gave you a very small (6 oz) plastic cup and then you get your "festival glass" when you leave the park.  The Brownwood Park has an ordnance that doesn't allow glass.

There were plenty of cute ladies and many sun dresses, short skirts and bare bellies.  Not all of them on women I might add.  It was a lot of fun as always and I did get a few beers I haven't had before from Moon River in Savanah.  I also got to chat at great length with the brewmaster of O'Dempsy Brewing about his process, new beers, his problems with Red Brick as a contract brewer and how much he LOVES Thomas Creek.

Since I got there a bit late, I did close the place down @ 6pm and then stopped in at the Grant Central East Pizza for a slice and then took the bus back to the MARTA station, another 2 hours later I was actually home.  I really need to get a better understanding of bus schedules and inbound vs outbound buses.

The pizza was alright but the thing I enjoyed the most was the cute waitress wearing a tank top and sporting to unshaven pits, not a problem for me at all but it's not something you see everyday here in the USA.

Suwanee Craft Beerfest 2012

This festival held in the Town Center Park in Suwanee GA was about 300% better this year. The selection of Beers was fantastic, my fav. Souther Tier had about 6 beers I truly love. Mostly, 2X Milk Stout, Creme Bruele, and Chokalot. There weren't many that I haven't had before though. Ass Kisser Brewery was there which was new, Wild Heaven had the Echalon and Red Hare another local brewery was there as well.

Suwanee Beerfest

I saw a BUNCH of folks I've met through being a Taco Mac Brewniversity member, more than likely over 20-30 people. I even missed a few. The weather couldn't have been better either, cool in the early part (fingers were crossed that it wouldn't rain) and then it got a lot warmer by the 5pm closing time. The music was good and there even was a home brew contest that a few of my friends had entered and several got medals for their beers, Jeff a 1st, Rob a second. Also, several friends didn't fair as well but they had a great time anyway.

Two days ago there was some KBS in town.

I found out a bit too late, Founder's KBS was distributed in the Atlanta area on Wednesday and Thursday, I wasn't on any lists and I checked at my local place but they were all out 2 hours after it arrived.

NoDa Brewing 3/2

Went here the day before my daughter's best friend's wedding in Charlotte, NC. I had on of their beers earlier in the day, the Midnight Madness, a black IPA or Ale. I then went over to the brewery over in the North Davidson area of Charlotte, NC. A really nice brewery, no tours the day I was there though, they were brewing a batch of beer and the back was busy. The taproom opened a few minutes after I got there, at 4pm and I was served up samples of the other 4 beers they produce, Ramble on Red Ale, Coco Loco Chocolate Coconut Porter, 10 Blocks South Extra Pale Ale, NoDaRyez'd Rye Imperial IPA. Served by the very tattooed and cute Courtney who is affectionally known as "Her Hopness" (play on Hoppy and Hot). Enjoyed all of them but the NoDaRyez'd I IPA was by far the BEST of the 5 beers, I can't remember what the beer that they were brewing was but the smells from the brewery were fantastic. The place didn't fill up much considering it was a Friday night but the bar was only about half full and the tables nearly vacant. There was a steady volume of people getting Growlers, mostly of the Imperial IPA and the Midnight Madness.

1000 and climbing

On Feb 23rd, 2012 I drank my 1000th beer on my First Brewniversity Card. Go me! Now to find myself a new liver and not think about the money I spent on this endeavor. I guess I have another beer.

only 13 more to go

I started this “beer list” back in Jan. 23 2005, now after 7 years, and less than a month I’ve almost hit the Chancellor Level - 1000 beers. Someone asked me -after seeing my list- if you get a liver transplant afterwards. ”Well, maybe I should, but no.” I do get a leather jacket.
