guinness and the mouse

guinness and the mouse

Some Guinness was spilled on the bar room floor
as the pub was closed for the night.
Out from his hole crept a wee brown mouse
and stood in the pale moonlight.
He lapped up the frothy brew from the floor
and back on his haunches he sat.
And all night long you could hear him roar
"Bring on the God damn cat!!!"

Not Beer but Wine

I like me a good red wine once in a while. Especially if I'm with one particular "friend".

Moreland Hen's Tooth

First off I think I love this beer. I may marry it.

With all the stouts I've been having lately I didn't think I would like this beer. I did though.

The appearance is an orange tan/amber, when poured there was copious amounts of head, all off white maybe an orange/red tinge. It died down quickly enough and allowed me to pour the rest. The head was bellowy and slightly creamy. Some stickiness on the sides.

The aroma was subtle, mostly malt and maybe some grain or bread. The taste was mostly malt sweetness.

Mouthfeel began light then became a bit heavier as the malt sweetness kicked in. Overall a very good beer, I was expecting a bit more funk due to the clear bottle but I was pleasantly surprised.

when to just say when, ok now

I realized I have almost 80 different beers waiting in my "cellar" which at this point is in my garage and the refridgerator out there. This doesn't count duplicates of beers so there is well over 100 beers in there. I need to work through some that shouldn't be cellared for long mostly lagers and such.

Need to check the temperature of the basement to see if it stays between 40-45-50 degrees

Week 21, Pickled Santa - Ridgeway Brewing

Nice spicy xmas beer, I'll make this better in the morning.

A: yellow amber off white head a lot down to light covering clear
S: coriandor spice cinimon
T: same no bitterness

Week 20, Thomas Creek - Pump House Porter

From Greenville, SC - only about 2 hours away from my house. I've visited the brewery and even chatted with the Brewmaster, they don't really have any tasting there but it was fun and educational.

Recap of all the Beers over the last week

I was off work the entire week after Christmas till after New Years and so I ended up drinking at least one good beer a day at my local Taco Mac pubs.

LEFT HAND FTB EXPORT ST 7.6% STOUT Left Hand CO Jan 2 2010
HOLY MACKERAL BLACK 8% STRNG ALE Gordash FL Jan 3 2010

As I look down the list again I notice that all but one, the Fuller's Vintage Ale, is a darker beer. I did enjoy almost all of them with the exception of the Ft. Collins Chocolate that just didn't seem chocolaty to me and was a bit thin tasting for a stout.
