Festivals and such

On Thursday evening I'm going with Becky to a Private Beer and Wine Party for the Piedmont Park Conservancy. The same one that I had the photo above of mine as the cover of they're 2007 calendar. It's an IR shot off the dock at Lake Clara Mere.

This weekend is the Winter Winefest and next weekend (27th) is the Beer Carnival.

Week 25, Lagunitas 2009 Correction Ale

More than enough Pine aroma and taste.

Week 24, Left Hand Chainsaw Ale - Double Sawtooth

Nice IPA! also high gravity and will blow your doors off.

Week 23, Lagunitas - Brown Shugga'

Poured up a dark orange/red with an off white head of only about a finger.

The aroma of molasses and honey with no real hint of the 9+ percent alcohol content. the taste was dominated by malt & molasses, a very complex beer. Hints of oak and leather are also present.

The mouthfeel is heavy and sugary (Brown Shugga, duh) some alcohol hints but not too harsh. Overall a smooth tasting and complex beer.

Some Guinness was spilled on the bar room floor
as the pub was closed for the night.
Out from his hole crept a wee brown mouse
and stood in the pale moonlight.
He lapped up the frothy brew from the floor
and back on his haunches he sat.
And all night long you could hear him roar
"Bring on the God damn cat!!!"

Not Beer but Wine

I like me a good red wine once in a while. Especially if I'm with one particular "friend".
